Project details
Wayne Farms is one of the largest poultry producers in the United States. To maximize their Decatur, Alabama site, the firm chose to build a new distribution facility to connect their East and West processing facilities. Primus was selected to provide design-build services.
The 135,000 SF project features 108,900 SF of dedicated -10° freezer storage, shrink-compensating slabs, and a 13-door dock maintained at 35°.
One of Primus’ main challenges was overcoming a 17-foot elevation change between the East plant and the new facility. Two hundred and fifty feet of pallet conveyance links the East plant with the distribution center and moves 35-40 pallets an hour.
