Meatco, a wholesale and retail meat distribution company based in Los Angeles, CA, has teamed with Primus Builders to provide design and construction services for their new distribution facility. The scope of work includes two new 35,000 SF 34°F “box in a box” coolers and 20,000 SF of 55°F dock. Office spaces encompass approximately 30,000 SF, with a battery charging area for 43 pieces of equipment, new dock doors, truck fuel station, trailer washout area, and a blast freezer that will accommodate eight pallets that can be cooled from 40 degrees to 0 degrees in approximately eight hours.
The refrigeration system consists of eleven roof mounted condensing units utilizing R507 refrigerant and provides 331 tons of cooling capacity.
A new 3,000 amp service was needed to provide the required power service for the facility. Primus successfully negotiated the added service with the local utility and provided the new service and distribution for the spaces.
The fuel station can accommodate simultaneous refueling of two trucks. Additionally, the trailer washout is a hot water high pressure system capable of washing out three trailers simultaneously.
