Lineage Logistics is one of the country’s largest providers of customized cold chain solutions. The firm specializes in public refrigerated warehousing, port-centric warehousing and dedicated distribution facilities. To meet the demands of its clients in Southeastern California, Lineage selected Primus to provide design-build services on a 420,000 SF greenfield cold storage facility in Colton, California.
This fast-track project was completed in two phases. Phase I featured a 35°F convertible cross dock. Eight mini penthouse cooling units were also installed.
Phase II centered on the freezer and cooler with temperatures ranging from -10°F to 55°F. Cranes were used to install seven large penthouse cooling units. Rack and the IMP interior were also completed.
The facility has 134 dock positions; eight banana rooms (with the potential for 10); two, 2-story support offices; and three, 1-story shipping/receiving offices. The exterior concrete totalled approximately 900,000 SF. The freezers contain LED lights, and shrink compensating floors are featured throughout. A battery handling room with opportunity charging stations is also included.
