Kroger, one of the largest grocery chains in the United States, chose to renovate its Compton distribution center and add an automated high-rise refrigerated and frozen facility. Kroger selected Primus Builders to complete this project.
The 225,000 SF expansion presented the challenge of managing the building envelope around the new automated material handling system. Primus overcame this challenge while also managing construction without hindering the center’s daily operations.
Additions included a new fuel island, truck wash, transportation building, trailer stack pads, forklift and building maintenance areas, and a new battery charging area. The outbuildings total 30,000 SF.
