Primus Breaks Ground on Latest Americold Project

Primus has been partnering with Americold, a global leader in cold storage logistics, on refrigerated warehouse design-build projects for nearly two decades. Recently, Americold partnered with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) to co-locate refrigerated warehouses along the CPKC rail network. Their first effort is a 335,000 SF Greenfield facility in Kansas City, MO. Spaces include a freezer warehouse, cooler warehouse that will be converted into a freezer in the future, a two-story office, USDA inspection rooms and a cold dock.

The project broke ground this week on the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Station. Members of the Primus field team attended in addition to Governor Mike Parson, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and executive leadership from Americold and CPKC.

“This innovative company’s presence in Kansas City is a welcome addition to the region’s thriving logistics sector,” said Governor Parson. “We congratulate Americold on its new facility and look forward to the benefits that this investment will provide for Missourians.”

“Primus is excited to start moving dirt on this building,” said Project Executive Mark Auer. “We have a great team in place, and they are ready to go to work.”

The Americold project is down the street from another Primus project: Vertical Cold Storage. This 311,000 SF Greenfield cold storage warehouse will feature value-added services including blast freezing, case picking and expedited intermodal transportation solutions.
